About me and my therapy practice
I’m Helen Fletcher, and I’m a fully qualified counsellor, (BA Hons, MBACP) My counselling training encompasses different theories, which gives me a good foundation to help you work on your issues. I work with adults, in the current climate, I am working with clients online.
I have an interest in Maternal health and wellbeing, I feel passionate about helping mothers navigate their way through this complex and deeply emotional time, manging the overwhelm, emotional labour and pressure this can heap on relationships.
Having a regular safe space to talk with a professional can help you process these difficult emotions safely. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, listened to, respected, and not judged. I offer a warm and empathic space to explore your feelings. My integrative training enables me to tailor my work to individual clients needs using different therapeutic approaches. I’m a relational therapist, this means I believe this can be one of the most important and therapeutic aspects of therapy.
We can have lots of different reasons for seeking therapy. Sometimes we learn from our earliest relationships that difficult, uncomfortable emotions aren’t ‘OK’, so we learn to push them away, so we don’t have to feel. Although these strategies can help in the short term, longer term, these strategies end up causing us more pain and suffering, often leaving us wondering where uncomfortable feelings have come from. Emotions are sometimes difficult to process.
Perhaps you feel you don’t have time for therapy, or it isn’t for you, that’s its only for people with much more serious issues, its common, and human for us to play down our suffering, as a survival mechanism. Counselling can help you work through your process, give you the space and permission to look at your challenges, and give you a space to grow and experiment with doing something different.
