About me and my therapy practice

I have worked as a counsellor for over 22 years and, through my work, I have been privileged to meet many unique and beautiful human beings.

As a counsellor, I believe my greatest strength is my ability to create a meaningful connection with another human being. I believe in always striving to be genuine, authentic, empathic and to feel an unconditional acceptance of others. All of these qualities I consider to be vital in order to create a therapeutic relationship with someone who is looking for help, with whatever it is that has led them to seek counselling.

I believe within counselling, a meaningful and trusting relationship with another human being is a vital part of the therapy, and that it is this relationship with another that enables us to understand and accept ourselves and to heal and grow.

As a counsellor, I view myself as a fellow traveller, sharing part of another persons journey through life, for as long as they want me alongside them. I feel both humbled and honoured when someone puts their trust in me, and invites me to walk alongside them for a while, and shares with me with their unique story.

I have worked with a wide variety of issues including, anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, stress, work related issues, trauma and bereavement. I also have considerable experience of working with clients on the autistic spectrum. In addition, I have experience and a special interest in working with clients who have experienced a cancer diagnosis and treatment and the associated emotional impact that has.

Since the pandemic I have moved to working mostly online offering video calls using Zoom, MS Teams, or FaceTime. Many clients have found this a good way to access counselling and it can provide more flexibility and convenience.

I am continuing to offer limited face to face sessions on Mondays depending on availability.

Practice description

I work within a small counselling organisation called Lemon Grove Counselling & Therapy, which is run jointly by myself, and fellow counsellor, Marco Centonze. We set up Lemon Grove because we both believe in the same approach and our aim is to create the peace and tranquility that goes hand in hand with the healing process.
