About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel like you are not being heard?
When dealing with difficult times such as illness, bereavement, loneliness, stress, separation, anxiety or depression it can be incredibly helpful to talk to someone outside of your circle of friends or family. I am a fully qualified, dedicated counsellor, experienced and passionate about working creatively with adults and children (using elements of play therapy depending on the child's age). I aim to provide a safe, therapeutic environment in which you can be yourself, speak freely and where we both commit to working together to examine and reflect on what is troubling you. My person-centred approach is non-directive and means that I draw on the theories of Carl Rogers in which emphasis is given to each individual being the expert on their own life and to have the power to make positive changes. By discovering your own (often hidden) resources you can feel more emotionally balanced, more able to cope and in control.
Apart from my private practice my experience as a therapist comes from a number of settings including Macmillan Counselling Services, working as a school counsellor as well as having been a listening volunteer for Samaritans for a number of years.
