I work face to face at The Surrey Centre, Headley.
If you prefer I am able to work via video call or telephone.
About me and my therapy practice
I am Laura, a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist. This means that I tend to work long term with clients to get to the root cause of their issue.
Sometimes life can feel stressful, difficult and even overwhelming, you may feel stuck and unable to move forward. It may become apparent you need to seek professional support in the way of counselling or psychotherapy to make sense of what is happening and how to find a way out.
I offer a confidential, non judgemental space for you to explore what is worrying you and how to overcome it. Having previously worked at The Priory I am experienced working with a variety of concerns including addictions, relationships, eating disorder, personality disorder, OCD and self harm.
Practice description
The first steps of change are awareness, which can sometimes look like a break down, burnout, stress, fatigue, a message from the body to say change is required or a spiritual awakening that something is wrong, you are not on the right path perhaps.
If you are struggling with eating, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, difficulty in relationships or a sense that something isn’t quite right then I will work with you in a collaborative style, guiding you through difficult times, towards feeling alive and rested.
I do this by working in an intuitive and nurturing capacity putting you at ease so that we can build a trusting and safe relationship.
I currently work in private practice and at The Surrey Centre for eating disorder.
My first session
Our first session together is called an assessment and aims to understand further what has led you to seek therapeutic treatment. Assessments last 55 minutes and should help you decide whether you want to pursue therapy further and if I am the right therapist for you. If at this stage you choose to continue I will give you a contract to take home and consider and we will set up regular weekly slots.
