About me and my therapy practice

I am currently seeing all clients online via Zoom and also provide telephone counselling.

I am a fully qualified, BACP counsellor. I have a passion to support people who are going through a difficult phase in their lives or who simply want to get more from what life has to offer.

Life can get difficult and overwhelming at times and we may need support to find clarity, emotional fulfilment and happiness. Whether you are feeling sad, going through a significant separation or bereavement, experiencing difficulties in relationships, feel anxious and overwhelmed, I can offer an accepting and warm space to talk through these issues.

Living in different countries and coming across many cultures made me a culturally competent practitioner who understands the difficulties of adapting to new environments and situations. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, genders, nationalities.

I deliver counselling both in English, Urdu, and Hindi.

Practice description

My therapeutic training and work are mainly informed by the psychodynamic, humanistic, and relational approaches however I tailor therapy according to your unique needs. This means that in our work together, I may point out some recurring patterns that may be out of your awareness. I strongly believe that our upbringing and the early connections we have made influence how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world today. I support my clients by creating a collaborative space to find connections between their past experiences and the present difficulties they may be facing. Inner positive change and resolution become accessible through understanding your feelings and thought processes.

My first session

What happens in a typical counselling session?

In a typical counselling session I will listen attentively to what you are saying and help clarify your words to ensure you are being fully understood. Together we will work out what it is that you want and how you can go about making changes, no matter how small those changes may seem.

By working together and voicing your thoughts and feelings, you will gain a different perspective on your situation. This will help you to feel less stuck or less alone and more able to live a full life with a hopeful future.

I will ask you questions about your past, your family, and your experiences of growing up in order to understand you fully and to think about repeated patterns of behaviour that may no longer be working for you. I will encourage and support you to reflect on your situation and to uncover what it is that you want. You will learn how to express yourself and to think about how to improve your situation and to take action.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm an integrative therapist. I believe that building an empathetic connection is key within the counselling process. With a strong foundation of empathy, genuineness, and by creating a trusting relationship, In the past years, I helped individuals tackle and alleviate a range of psychological distress arising from chronic pain and physical difficulties; trauma; and interpersonal difficulties while promoting general and positive life changes. I will work with you to come up with a treatment plan, unique to you, that meets your needs and helps you move forward.

Practice description

Counselling is a special experience in which you are listened to in a non-judgemental and supportive way. A counselling conversation may feel very different from talking to friends or family. It may be the first time you have really felt heard or listened to. Being listened to and supported in this way will enable you to make your own decisions, to understand yourself better, to take control, and facilitate change
