About me and my therapy practice

As an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor my approach is simple: I help clients to free themselves of the bonds that prevent them from living the way they truly want to - so that they can enjoy life, give and receive love and warmth, and experience supportive relationships. We work together to explore and understand what lies behind the internal barriers or negative beliefs that are holding them back. This can sometimes be a difficult process, so I always move at the client’s pace and do not push them to deal with particular issues until they feel ready.

My perspective is that we all have a broad tool kit of qualities and abilities to help us get through life, but that experiences can cause some of these to be dulled, or so rusty that we forget we even have them. I aim to help people reconnect to their full range of innate qualities so that they are whole again. This enables them to cope with things that would otherwise regularly cause anxiety, depression, fear or anger – and to live a more complete, happy and fulfilling life.

Practice description

I work with you to help you see your life more clearly, recognise your patterns of behaviour and the nature of your relationships, and connect you to who you really are.

I offer a warm, kind, gentle and non-judgmental environment, with a dose of good humour. It’s a safe space to heal. I will provide you with practical ways to overcome mental barriers and increase your self-confidence so you can be the person you want to be and live your life to its full potential.

A lot of my work focuses on the effects of deep psychological wounding, which can encompass many experiences. This can include ones you may not have thought of, such as being continually shouted at, neglected or made to feel ‘not good enough’ as a child. Identifying these wounds can help to understand a person’s behaviour, everyday responses and life patterns. I am also a qualified EMDR practitioner, a method of working to heal traumatic wounds.

My first session

If you are interested by what you have read and would like to take the next step all you need to do is phone me or us the contact form to arrange to have an initial free no-obligation 15 minutes consultation. It’s an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for or air any uncertainties. If you like the sound of what you hear we can then book in the first session.

This will consist of a number of elements such as taking a background history, discussing what your goals are for therapy, getting a sense of each other and most importantly whether we are comfortable enough to work with each other. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions. If you would like to continue we’ll come to an agreement about how to proceed. All the sessions last 50 minutes.

The cost per session is £70 to £80 for an online session and £85-£90 for a face-to-face session in the consulting room. Payment is by bank transfer or cash.

As a result of the Covid pandemic I am currently only seeing clients online on a variety of platforms or talking to them on the telephone. Prior to this I was seeing clients in my consulting room in Little Venice, London W2. This is a central location; only a few minutes walk from Paddington Station and Warwick Avenue Underground Station. I hope to return to my consulting room in the not too distant future.

How long does it last or how long will I need? It is difficult to answer this as it varies from client to client, some may need or want short term work with a specific focus others may want an open ended deeper dive into what is affecting them. The reality is that different time frames suit different people.
