About me and my therapy practice
Finding yourself struggling with life? Perhaps you feel your mental wellbeing is not quite what it used to be? Maybe something has happened in your life that is troubling you?
Anxiety, depression and being overwhelmed is something we all can feel from time to time and where counselling could help. Together we can explore any difficulties you may have.
Whatever brings you to seek counselling I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore what is going on. Our sessions are confidential and forms the foundation of our therapeutic relationship.
I am a person-centred counsellor, which means that you are at the heart of our time together. The sessions are led by you and we will work at a pace that suits you. My approach is not to offer advice, but to be with you, and trust in your own ability to resolve your difficulties with the help and support of our counselling relationship.
I offer a variety of ways to experience counselling:
- Counselling room – we can meet each week, in person, in one of the counselling rooms I have available in Berkshire and Surrey.
- Online – Using Zoom ™ we can hold our session online, from a place where you can feel safe and be confidential.
- Walk and Talk – We can take our counselling sessions outside on risk assessed walks.
My first session
The initial contact should only take around ten to fifteen minutes. It will give you the chance to ask questions about my approach to counselling. We can have this via phone or on Zoom.
We can explore any previous experience of talking therapies that you have had. We’ll also look at what has brought you to consider counselling at this time.
I’ll then share some more information about the types of counselling that I offer, and you can decide the style that best suits you.
Most importantly, it provides you with the opportunity to see if you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor.
There is no charge for this initial session.
If after this you want to go ahead we will arrange for a suitable time and date to have our first session. Our sessions together are up to 50 minutes.
