About me and my therapy practice
My intention is to create a warm and compassionate relationship from which we can learn to be curious and engage with whatever you might need to be exploring or changing in your life.
Working from a trauma informed, integrative perspective, I accept self referrals in addition to referrals from outside agencies including other therapists. Following an initial assessment I meet with clients on a weekly basis.
I offer sessions on an in-person, face to face, online or via telephone.
I work with clients for a minimum of 6 sessions, however much of my work is longer term.
Sessions will generally be 55 minutes in duration and my Cancellation Policy has a 48 hour notice period.
In addition to direct client work I offer supervision on both an individual and group basis.
I hold GDPR registration.
I believe that to facilitate change within ourselves and support the transition to a more fulfilled and meaningful life we need to understand how the old patterns and coping strategies that have maybe become unhelpful and often destructive we need to create a sense of internal safety. To allow this we can learn to become curious and kinder towards ourselves. I believe this to be core to the journey of exploration and change.
As an EMDR therapist my experience is that old, and sometimes not so old, traumas that are still being held in our nervous system, unprocessed, can constantly be being triggered, effecting our relationships with our selves and others. Long established "core beliefs" colour our perspectives of ourselves and the world, which once identified can be re-processed and let go of, giving space to develop more helpful and constructive thinking, feeling, sensing imaginative functions.
I mostly work from my cabin in a beautiful space in Avening, and occasionally, depending on need, I can use a more nature based space which can allow for sessions to be conducted in an outside environment as well as office based.
As an Equine Therapist , ( not currently practising), and director of The Equine Therapy Center in Avening, it is also possible to incorporate into a treatment programme, Equine Assisted Therapy alongside a trained Equine Therapist.
My first session
Initial sessions will be 50 minutes. This will be an initial assessment to establish whether I feel that I am the right therapist for you, and equally whether you feel that I am right for you.
