About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Person Centred/Humanistic Counsellor offering online, in person and telephone sessions. Sessions are usually weekly, at an agreed time and up to one hour. I can offer you a safe, confidential space where you chose what you want to share with me. Together we can identify areas and experiences that you may want to explore further and gain a deeper understanding of. We can set goals for your therapy and set  an agreed time span or work in an open ended way with whatever surfaces for you each week.

I offer a free initial telephone consultation of up to 30 mins where we can discuss what you would like to bring to therapy and how we could work together. If we feel that we are a good fit and can work together well, then we can book in your first session.  I will then send you a Counselling agreement document to read through that outlines the terms of the Counselling that I offer including instructions for payment, cancellations and holidays and my legal obligations. If you are happy to go ahead then you sign and return the agreement and therapy can begin.

Every six weeks we review our work together to ensure that you are happy with the way that things are going , to check  that we are still working effectively together, to address any issues that may have arisen and to review that any goals that you have set for your therapy are being met.

Practice description

I work in a Person Centred way which means that I am not an expert on what you should do and I do not offer advice. Instead, you, as my client, are at the centre of the work that we do together. In the safe, empathic, accepting and confidential space that I offer you, the conditions are present to allow us to build a trusting therapeutic relationship with each other, in which I can help you to help you find the answers you need that will help you make sense of your situation, emotions and experiences. From doing so you I hope that you can then be free to move forward in life, living more authentically and with a greater understanding of yourself.

My first session

I offer an initial telephone consultation of up to 30 mins, for free, to allow us to discuss what brings you to therapy and your individual situation and needs. If we both feel that we are a good fit for one another, we can then arrange your first full therapy session at a suitable time.

On your first session will discuss the Counselling agreement and terms of working, the issues that bring you to therapy, I fill in some forms with you such as previous therapy, medication, next of kin details and I can answer any questions you might have. This should still allow time for us to begin to get to know each other and for you to begin to share with me.
