About me and my therapy practice

I’m Nat, an experienced counsellor and Accredited member of the BACP.  I offer short or long term therapy, either online to clients anywhere in the world, or in person at my offices on Malone Road in Belfast

I work with and welcome people from all different backgrounds and life experiences (18+). I have a background in working with sexuality and gender diversity and have a particular interest in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, or those questioning their gender or sexuality.

Many of my clients also experience neurodivergence & neurodiversity and I am on an ongoing journey of training and self-education to make sure my practice is safe, flexible and inclusive.

If you are having a difficult time right now and would like to talk through some of your thoughts and feelings, or if you are curious about how counselling might be able to help you, please feel free to get in touch to arrange an email or call back.

Practice description

What I can offer you:

I am an experienced counsellor and member of the LGBTQ+ community. Before starting my own counselling practice, I was part of the counselling team at The Rainbow Project. I supported LGBTQ+ people and those who are questioning with issues around sexuality or gender, often including shame, depression and anxiety, and any other issues that were having a negative impact on life.

Working with people over the years, I know that LGBTQ+ people often have negative experiences trying to access help for their mental health. With this in mind I set up Creighton Counselling NI with a focus on providing safe, inclusive, accepting and LGBTQ+ knowledgeable counselling.

I believe that we all are doing the best we can within the environment and resources available. I am trained in person-centred and psychodynamic styles of counselling. This means that your experiences and perceptions of the world will be at the heart of our work together. I will work to understand what life is like for you and I won’t make assumptions or judgements. We may explore your life experiences and try to understand factors that may be contributing to your current difficulties.

Counselling can contribute to you understanding yourself better, having more trust in yourself and others, and to feeling more authentic and unashamed. The safety of the counselling relationship can help you to have more courage to face the things you normally avoid, and trust in your own ability to handle them.

My first session

The first step in accessing help can often be the hardest, particularly if you have been used to dealing with things by yourself or have some uncertainty about how it all works.

After you contact me through this directory or through the contact form on my website, I will get in touch with you to arrange a time that suits you for an initial chat about what brings you to counselling. This can be by Zoom or phone call.

This will be a brief conversation where I will ask some questions about what brings you to counselling and what you would like to get out of counselling. The purpose of this is to work out if I am the best counsellor to suit your needs.

If you do feel we area good fit and would like to continue we can arrange a time for a first full session. Full sessions last for 50 minutes and my fee is £50 per session.
