Cressida Stevens

I am a BACP accredited psychodynamic counsellor and supervisor with 20 years of experience.  My work has focused on helping people from all walks of life, having worked in GP surgeries, community centres, universities and charities.

I place great importance on establishing a safe and non-judgemental counselling relationship, allowing clients to talk freely and openly about their feelings and difficulties.

I offer focused, short-term counselling, or in-depth, long-term therapy. I  works with adults of all ages, cultural backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations.

I place particular focus on how past experiences may continue to affect the ways that we think and behave, and help clients to consider how this could have an impact on their well-being. Through a process of open discussion, I aim to identify current patterns of behaviour or thoughts that may be linked to earlier experiences and attachments. This can help clients to consider how these factors might influence their daily life and relationships.

I work with clients to help address these challenges within a psychodynamic framework.  The aim is not only to feel supported in resolving difficulties, but also to gain a better understanding of self that can maintain future well-being.

I am an accredited psychodynamic counsellor with over 17 years experience working in NHS, university and charity settings as well as private practice.  I have been a supervisor since 2013 and currently supervise groups of trainees and qualified counsellors and therapists from psychodynamic and integrative backgrounds.
