About me and my therapy practice

I am a seasoned counsellor with over seven years of experience. I get involved in every step of each case and conducts the counselling sessions. I am also assisted by a team of experienced associates across different locations and services.

Practice description

I assess and treat mental and emotional health disorders, relationship issues and life challenges. Through various methods of counselling and psychotherapy, I work with my clients to develop meaningful behavioural changes. I also offer coping strategies for navigating life’s struggles.

My endeavour is to provide support and guidance in my client’s life. I do this by working with my client to identify triggers, cope with negative emotions and reduce symptoms in order to improve individual’s quality of life.

My first session

I recognise that each of my clients is unique. I will structure the sessions in line with the client’s requirements, taking the issues and treatment plans into consideration. I meet weekly with my clients for a minimum of 6 weeks. The client can expect the practitioner to be curious and seek to understand the client’s worldview, through process, history, behavioural patterns, stressors and how they all contribute to how the client feels. I may also assign homework and practice navigating situations in sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

My name is Marina and I am a fully qualified, highly skilled counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am passionate about my work and have an extensive professional background in both the school and private sectors and provide comprehensive therapeutic support to children, young people, adults, couples and families, and employees.

This dedication has driven me to achieve an MSc degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies, and a BSc (Hons] degree in Psychology and Counselling. In 2016, I launched my own private practice ‘OK Talk Counselling’ to provide a safe, secure and confidential setting where individuals can feel empowered to share their problems, issues or experiences with someone who is fully trained to help them.

I use best practice, evidence-based therapeutic approaches to facilitate practical and lasting change for individuals to help them improve their relationships, their outlook on life and their overall wellbeing.

People seek counselling support for a range of reasons and whilst the issues are often common, such as anxiety, depression, or stress, I do not apply a ‘one size fits all’ approach nor is it about ‘fixing’ the individual. Instead, it’s about going on a journey together so, in time, that individual feels better able and equipped to make decisions themselves and improve their life. By dealing with emotional barriers and personal concerns in an open, honest and collaborative way, I firmly believe genuine positive change can occur. I know how busy or difficult life can be and it’s not always possible for individuals to book regular face-to-face counselling sessions. That is why I offer the choice of private counselling sessions in person, over the telephone or online.
