About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Jeremy and I am a BACP registered counsellor offering therapy on a short or long term basis. I see the therapeutic space as an opportunity to take a different view of current difficulties; taking into account past, and often unconscious, issues in order to promote the awareness that leads to more harmonious functioning and more satisfactory relationships.
My priority is to establish a climate of trust in the therapeutic relationship where warmth and empathy are paramount. We will work collaboratively to become more aware of patterns in your life and enact changes to lessen your obstacles and increase your enjoyment of life.
You may be entering a period of transition, want to improve your relationship, or be stuck in a rut. Perhaps you need help dealing with a serious problem, or simply want to self-develop and improve your current situation. Whatever is occurring in your life, I will engage you in open one-to-one conversation marked by curiosity, respect and understanding.
I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and childhood trauma. I will help you to recognise and understand your unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and the anxiety and depression which results from difficult life events or past experiences. Sometimes feelings can come out of the blue and we do not know why we feel the way we do. I will help you explore and understand this so you can make changes to how you feel.
Practice descriptionMy practice is based on the Transactional Analysis model combining elements of an integrative and relational approach. This allows me to adapt to each person's needs and to work towards building a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
My first session
Taking the first step towards opening up to someone new can feel daunting, therefore, I offer a free initial telephone or online consultation as an opportunity for us to find out more about each other. The consultation will give you a feel for my approach and how I work, and we can talk a little about what has brought you to counselling.
