About me and my therapy practice
Making the decision to have Counselling can be a difficult one; it is often the last resort when everything else we have tried has failed to provide us with what we need.
I offer a safe, confidential and non- judgemental space where together, we can explore any emotional difficulties or challenges you may be facing.
I work Integratively, which simply put means that my training enables me to draw upon a range of different theoretical approaches, utilising the one which best suits your needs.
I have spent my career supporting people with a background working within the judicial system, education and charitable/voluntary sector.
I have spent many years working with and supporting survivors of sexual and domestic abuse and have a particular interest in complex trauma. I have worked closely with the BAME community around issues such as FGM, Honour Based Violence and Forced Marriage.
I am a qualified Trainer and have worked in adult education as a Counselling Tutor, teaching at Intro level through to Level 3.
I am also an Accredited member of the BACP, meaning I have demonstrated a high standard of practice measured against the BACP's assessment process.
Practice description
Many clients come to counselling feeling powerless and out of control within certain areas of their lives. I work from an empowerment perspective, which recognises that each individual has the power and autonomy to make their own decisions and ultimately, knows what is right for them. I work in a collaborative way with each client, placing you at the centre of the work and helping you to recognise yourself at the centre of your own life. The sessions are client led, which means that you decide the content, after all, you are the expert on you!
I am compassionate, curious, honest and non- judgemental and I believe our relationship is the most important part of the therapy.
