About me and my therapy practice

In supervision I offer a secure base for learning, development and growth of practice to better support and empower practitioners to meet client needs through embodying the principles of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.

Identifying learning opportunities through reflection and recognising positive and challenging practice through regular review, open discussion and up to date knowledge of theories and practice.

I work in line with BACP ethical guidelines, professional standards and clinical supervision competency frameworks to ensure best practice. Working alongside organisation and education bodies requirements to ensure efficacy of clinical practice and achievement of professional goals.

Recognising the individual personality, needs and aspirations of practitioners, working to support and cultivate these to create a confident and successful therapist.

Practice description

My Clinical Supervision is underpinned by four main aims;

  • To provide a safe space for clinical exploration
  • To promote professional development for clinicians in practice and self awareness
  • To contribute to positive client outcomes
  • Provide ethical guidance in dealing with clinical issues.

These are achieved through working with my supervisee's to identify the clients issues, what is happening in the room and what may be being left out of the room, considering together what the practitioner is bringing into the room, ensuring the practitioners wellbeing and collaboratively exploring different ways of working.

As a trained Person Centred Counsellor and established training and clinical manager, development and achieving full potential for supervisee’s is a core aspect of the clinical supervision I provide.

Having worked within a number of different sectors and experienced different approaches to Supervision I find the experiential aspect of my supervision is a key element. Using active supervision skills to look at client work from different angles, exploring and developing clinical skills and providing a safe space to practice techniques or interventions appropriate for the client work.

Exploring challenge together, recognising what is not being brough to supervision as much as what is being brought is a key element in deepening the supervision relationship.

My first session

Establishing an in-depth working alliance is essential for effective clinical supervision to take place. Therefore I offer a free introductory session where we can meet to discuss our experience, skills and expectations to understand better how we would work together. As with therapy I feel it is essential the supervisee feels comfortable with their Clinical Supervisor.
