About me and my therapy practice
Clients often seek counselling to help them at times in their life when they may need help to resolve emotional, psychological or relationship issues. Talking to a counsellor can feel daunting but can help you resolve and understand any challenges or difficulties you may be facing. I will work alongside you, in a confidential and non-judgemental environment, supporting you while making your own choices. By talking about and exploring your emotions and feelings it may help you come to your own conclusions bringing about positive changes and empowering you to take your next steps in life.
It is my job to walk beside you and listen, enabling you to feel truly heard and understood, allowing the time and space for exploration of the issues that are concerning you. Through gaining more understanding of these issues and the resulting behaviours, counselling can enable change and reduce internal conflict.
The time is yours and you set the pace. There is no pressure to disclose or explore anything that you are not comfortable with.
Having been trained and qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor, I am passionate about providing a high-quality counselling service. I work with adults and young people (16+) who may be looking for support for numerous different reasons.
My practice is non-judgemental or advisory. This is your journey, your experiences, your feelings and your life. Through building a relationship of trust we can work together to find resolutions, heal from the past and look to the future.
Although I come from a Person-Centred approach I recognise that everyone is different and I can adapt my style of working to the individual client and their needs.
Most of my work is conducted remotely either by telephone or online via Zoom. I am also able to offer local home visits.
My first session
I offer a reduced fee for the initial session as this is an informal appointment, giving us the opportunity to 'meet', discuss the process and gain some knowledge and information about you and your reason behind seeking counselling. I will explain the client contract and other relevant paperwork with you and make sure that you understand and are happy with the content.
This time also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the counselling process. Most importantly we will find out if we feel comfortable working together. I can offer short or long term work, depending on what is appropriate for you.
If for whatever reason I feel that my clinical skills or experience do not match your needs, I will endeavour to 'signpost' you towards useful contacts, a professional colleague or appropriate agency.
