About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP registered counsellor and have training in Sexual Violence Against Women. I am also a Suicide First Aid (SFA) Associate Tutor.
I am a volunteer counsellor at Rape Crisis and also practice privately.
I work in film and media so am aware of the inherent stresses within the industry and am passionate about supporting the mental health of employees within the profession.
My approach is Person Centred; it is based on the idea that natural human potential can be facilitated and encouraged by a unique, trusting relationship between the client and the therapist.
I believe in the actualising tendency: the innate capacity of every individual to grow and reach their potential for self-fulfilment
I see counselling as a journey of self-discovery and the positive relationship we develop as client and counsellor the main therapeutic agent.
My role is to get to know you and for you to develop a greater understanding of yourself in a safe, confidential and supportive environment, where you have the freedom to talk openly about anything in your life you are struggling with.
My first session
At your first appointment you will be invited to meet to discuss your personal hopes in therapy. This initial consultation will provide time to discuss any concerns you may have about counselling.
At the end of this meeting you will be able to decide if you would like to continue with further appointments.
Therapy can be short or long-term. You may end therapy at any time, simply by letting me know.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP registered counsellor and have training in Sexual Violence Against Women. I am an Associate Tutor for SFA: Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Interventions
I am a volunteer counsellor at Rape Crisis and work in private practice. I also work in film and media and am aware of the inherent stresses within this predominantly freelance industry.
I set up Solas Mind to provide effective in-house or on-set counselling services, mental health training and Suicide First Aid Education.
I am passionate about supporting the positive mental health of all individuals and destigmatizing suicide by delivering Suicide First Aid Training.
Solas Mind offers effective in-house learning and development solutions for individuals, community groups, corporate organisations, charities - anyone who needs support.
Our specialism is working in film and media; a wonderful industry but also one that can be lonely and demanding. We aim to support people and enable employees to feel more comfortable and confident to talk about their mental health.
Practice description
Solas Mind can provide in-house or on-set counselling services, mental health first-aid training and suicide prevention education. All the counsellors we work with are BACP members and have an understanding of the film and media industry.
At Solas Mind we are passionate about Suicide Prevention Education and deliver the UK’s National Qualification in Suicide Prevention - 'Suicide First Aid'
Our suicide training is focused on destigmatizing mental illness and teaches individuals how to have a conversation with someone at risk of suicide
The “SFA: Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Intervention” course includes a maximum of 16 participants (no minimum). This smaller setting allows for personal self-reflection on those having thoughts of suicide and consideration of the personal impact when working with suicide and people at risk.
No previous training or experience is necessary.
Our bespoke in-house training courses are custom made to meet the needs of your organisation and are delivered at venues and dates that suit you. Many of our packages can be offered as either a half day or a full day.
