About me and my therapy practice
Life can throw so many different situations at each and every one of us. Sometimes those situations are too difficult to deal with and can be overwhelming.
At those times, it can seem difficult to know who to talk to without feeling some sense of failure and possible shame, that you have not been able to do what others seem to be able to do so easily. Embarrassment may stop you from wanting to talk to family or friends or you may feel that you are not understood by those around you. This can increase a sense of isolation or loneliness creating more anxiety and possible depression.
Counselling can help you to view situations differently, it can help you to gain a greater degree of self-awareness, self-esteem and understanding for yourself and who you are.
Working together, using Petruska Clarkson's Therapeutic Relationship I offer the opportunity to work in a relational creative ways, this process can help to create acceptance towards yourself and others.
I can work with you on a short or longer-term basis, being led by your needs and requirements.
For those who work variable shift patterns arranging counselling can seem tricky, options can be negotiated.
Practice description
At present due to the coronavirus I have been offering clients the opportunity to work online using a platform called Zoom. This offers the flexibility to see each other but not be in the same room.
I also work with clients on the telephone, this can be useful if you are unable to connect to the internet.
My first session
I usually offer a free telephone consultation that takes no more than half an hour. This usually gives both of us a chance to find out a bit more before committing to any paid for appointments.
You might decide that by talking to me I am the person you would like to work with or we might find out that my experience does not fit with your current needs. This also might become more apparent in the first few sessions.
During the first session I usually try to find out what your goals and expectations are of therapy. I will regularly review with you, to see how you feel the therapy is progressing.
