About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Mahalia. I am a person-centred psychotherapist. My aim as a therapist is to provide a safe, accepting, non - judgemental therapeutic relationship in which I will help you explore and make sense of what you need to. I believe each person experiences different realities due to their perceptions of the world; I find this to be the beauty of uniqueness. I am passionate about giving others time and support they need to work through what is needed to gain clarity, and acceptance. Sometimes we need space to feel heard, sometimes we need space to think and be present with ourselves. I am non-judgemental regardless of my own values and beliefs. As your therapist I will accept you for who you are and meet you with empathy. I will be with you in your chaos, in your binding and I will be patient with your process. With a person-centred approach I welcome people from all walks of life providing empathy, honesty, and unconditional positive regard.
I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS) and a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Person-centred counselling and psychotherapy practice and I am currently a doctoral student in counselling psychology.
I work online, via telephone and face to face. I am happy to discuss with you what suits you best. I work in a private practice amongst other therapists within Glasgow, Scotland where clients are welcome to reach out through the website and discuss further this way.
My first session
The first session can always be nerve racking - I offer the first session to be a get-to-know each other session. Where paperwork is provided regarding contracts and what to expect from myself as your therapist.
In the first session we work through your goals with in therapy, what it is that has brought you to therapy and how you would like me to support you in our sessions.
Not all therapists are right for everyone, the initial session is to help you discover whether you would like to continue or change therapists. Although, you can change / leave at any time.
