Due to the ever changing risks associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic I am currently only offering telephone counselling sessions.
My last appointments are 6.00pm. I will offer limited appointments slots on Saturday Mornings and do not work on Sundays.
About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor in August 2019. Prior to qualifying I volunteered on the local rape crisis helpline for over a year. I completed my placement during training at Durham County Carers and also a local primary school.
I believe each client knows their own needs and I adapt my style of counselling to each individual client. I can work creatively and offer alternative ways to help client's explore their issues and find their own resolutions. This can include using activities, art, poems or images to help client's.
The most important aspect of counselling for me is the relationship between myself and my client. I work hard to ensure every client is heard and understood in a calm, non-judgemental way. As a client it is important to feel comfortable and safe with your counsellor, it has to be a good fit.
My practice is based in a purpose built garden room in a private residential garden. It has off road parking available and is accessible via a side entrance. We have created a safe haven, which feels calm and peaceful. It is only used as a therapy room and is not overlooked.
I am hoping to open my therapy room to client's when it is safe to do so, as per government guidelines. For now I am offering telephone counselling.
I hope to eventually offer walk and talk sessions at a local nature reserve and will eventually extend my remote counselling to online counselling. Reduced rates are available for student counsellors.
My first session
The first session is often more of a taster session, to see if you feel comfortable and we both feel confident that we could work together successfully.
I would usually send a copy of my contract to you via email before our session together, so you have the opportunity to read through it at your own pace. I would only ask you to sign the contract if you decide to go ahead with further sessions. I do ask for payment in advance of your session (48 hours before your appointment), failure to pay will mean the appointment is cancelled and you will be notified of this via email and text. You would be charged£40 in advance for your first session. If you decide during the taster session that you don't want to work together you will be refunded 50% of your initial payment. If working remotely the same applies.
