About me and my therapy practice

Hello, thank you for visiting my profile and taking the first brave step in accessing counselling support.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor which allows me to integrate aspects of different counselling approaches within our work together, providing a best fit approach for your counselling needs. My core approach is person-centred, this  places you, the client at the centre of your counselling experience and supports you in accessing and recognising your innate ability to process and manage the difficulties you may be struggling with.

The challenges and changes we experience throughout life can sometimes leave us feeling worried , anxious, overwhelmed confused, scared, lonely and at times isolated.

I can offer support relating to events that occur through our life time including developing strategies to manage anxiety and behaviours impacting on everyday functioning, as well as issues regarding  relationships, parenthood, menopause, retirement, changes in familial roles and dependency, bereavement and loss. Support is also provided in exploring painful and traumatic events that you may identify from the outset of sessions, or that present as we go through our work together. These may include experiences that occurred in childhood such as abuse, bereavement , domestic abuse, parent separation, loss and parental alcohol and substance misuse.

As your counsellor my hope is to provide a warm, empathic relationship and environment that can support you in feeling comfortable and safe to discuss your issues ,explore your experiences and hopefully reduce the impact of the difficulties that have led you to seek counselling. Talking about your difficulties will increase your understanding and awareness of what may be contributing to your current issues, enabling you to process the experiences you have had to promote an increased sense of mental wellbeing.

Practice description

I provide one to one sessions from a practice within the Bromsgrove area and online evening sessions via zoom.

Each session lasts for 50 minutes.  I work with adults for a minimum of 6 sessions participating in brief and longer term therapy where appropriate.

My first session

Please email me and I will reply to your message confirming details of an initial free 20 minute phone consultation. Please indicate on the email any difficulties in contacting you or issues I need to be made aware in relation to your situation or circumstances with regards to contact between us.

The phone call allows us to introduce ourselves to each other and for us to discuss and agree if I am the right counsellor for you, and able to meet your current therapeutic needs. The telephone call is arranged at a time to suit us both, offering you the opportunity to be in a position where you can talk freely about your reasons for seeking counselling. The call is made from a withheld number offering confidentiality to clients who may need this.

If we decide to proceed with me as your counsellor, one to one weekly session times will be agreed. You will be invited to a counselling practice within the Bromsgrove area, or offered an online session if requesting an evening appointment.
