About me and my therapy practice

I’m an integrative psychotherapist specialising in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. Research, and more importantly client experiences, has shown these to be effective in moving forward in life if we feel stuck. Additional approaches such as Compassion and Solution Focussed Therapy are used where helpful.

Practice description

Based in London, I support people across the UK to manage, or let go, the challenges life throws at us. Sometimes we cope well with these and sometimes we cannot which can lead to emotions such as anxiety, anger, guilt, shame and at times depression.

The first step when working together is to listen, fully understand and assess a client's problems, emotions and beliefs. Then we agree, together, clear goals and work to meet these. I also use Mindfulness exercises, which help manage our thoughts to enjoy life’s riches in the present and help change. Sessions have a focus on “quick wins” and results which involves straight talking, some challenge and homework which clients find beneficial and appreciate.

As a married father of two independent adults, I have experienced “the rich tapestry of life" which is applied, where helpful, to provide practical and pragmatic ways forward for clients. After 35 years within complex roles in many companies, I also offer much insight into the workplace and its psychological challenges. Experience of what helped me thrive (and at times survive) is called upon where relevant.

I have Advanced Diplomas in Integrative CBT/REBT and work in private practice with adults of all ages and genders. Professional recognition includes being a Registered Member of the BACP and Member of the NCS. In addition, a degree in Biochemistry helps explain, where beneficial, the science of how to heal. Lastly, an MBA helps provide further insight into challenges we can face at work.

My first session

The first few sessions are focused on deeply understanding how the client is feeling, and the reasons for this. These can often be current, or from the past. I am passionate about using this to build a solid therapeutic relationship with the client based on empathy, trust, non judgement and compassion.
