About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling with some aspects of your life? Do you have issues with anxiety or depression or in relationships? Are you looking for a warm, experienced, well-trained professional psychotherapist / counsellor to help you understand and work through your difficulties? I offer a safe space to help you talk through, understand and make the changes you want to see to lead a more fulfilling life.
In addition to my private practice, I am an experienced NHS honorary psychotherapist, working as part of the Trauma Service at The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and before that, as part of the Community Mental Health team in St Albans. I am well trained as both a psychotherapist and a psychodynamic counsellor and have a number of years of experience helping people with their difficulties. My most recent training and qualification was from The Tavistock and Portman Clinic in London. I have also worked for a number of years at The Counselling Foundation and as a school counsellor at The Samual Whitbread Academy.
I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy - where we look together at patterns of behaviour, learnt throughout your life, and how they may be causing difficulties now. I recommend once weekly sessions, of 50 minutes duration each, and these could be face to face, using video applications such as zoom or the phone. If you want to talk through what help you think you need, then please get in touch and we can have a discussion in the first instance about how I may be able to help.
My first session
My (minimum) first 2 sessions are offered as a consultation where you can get a flavour of the work I offer and whether this feels it would be helpful for you. These sessions are usually slightly longer that the ongoing sessions, as that allows us more time to cover what is needed. Call me to discuss and we can set up a time and space.
