About me and my therapy practice
At times in our lives we each experience situations which negatively affect the quality of our experience. Issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and difficulties in relationships with others and sometimes, even with ourselves can cause ongoing distress and get in the way of everyday life.
I aim to provide a strong therapeutic relationship, in which we can explore your concerns in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
Together, we can reflect on your experience and help you find a way through.
I offer a relational, developmental approach to therapy: I believe that, through our early relationships we each develop coping mechanisms in order to deal with day-to-day living. Unfortunately, at times of pressure, stress or conflict - often the very times when we need these strategies most - they can fail us.
A great deal of my practice is focused on supporting individuals going through challenging times in their lives due to anxiety, depression and those having difficulty in finding direction. I have particular experience supporting people suffering from chronic or terminal illness and with bereaved people, exploring the many complex issues which arise at such times. I am very comfortable and able to work with clients who have concerns about sexual identity and sexuality.
I trained as a psychotherapist at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute and I am accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am very willing to work with students in training and a discounted rate can be negotiated.
I also work with couples to help you understand your relationship and reflect on what might not be working well at present.
My practice is in Leicester City Centre, on New Walk, overlooking the tranquil De Montfort Square.
