About me and my therapy practice
It can take a lot of courage to ask for support when you’re feeling low, anxious or when life is throwing challenges your way.
As a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor, I offer a calm, compassionate and confidential space to help you untangle your thoughts and feelings away from your everyday life; where you can unburden, and shine fresh light on your difficulties, and navigate periods of change or loss.
We’ll work together creatively to find a focus and approach that works for you, to help you heal, grow and find a way forwards.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on various theoretical models in order to tailor an approach to suit you.
You're the expert on you, so sessions are led by what you bring. I provide empathy, compassion and guidance to support your growth. I also help draw out difficult and/or unconscious feelings and patterns of behaviour to enable change. Acknowledging the impact of early relationships on the ways in which we relate to one another.
I also draw inspiration from: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), creative therapies and mindfulness honouring the connection between the body and the mind.
I believe it is important to acknowledge power structures, and intersecting oppressions (such as race, class and sexuality) and their impact on clients' mental health.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Registered Member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, 2018.
I have experience working in the NHS, schools, charities and community services. I have worked with adults and young people, and have facilitated therapeutic groupwork.
My first session
In your first session, I will ask a bit about you and your history, and what you hope to gain from counselling. I'll introduce how I work too. You can always choose whether you wish to continue after a first session.
