About me and my therapy practice
Taking the first step towards therapy, or returning to therapy, can be difficult. Yet working through your experiences can help to process life more meaningfully. Being a qualified psychodynamic therapist means that I understand how even the smallest of issues can play such a huge part in what you may be feeling inside. We can work through this together, as I invite you to share your issues in a warm, empathic, yet well-held space.
I am by nature a very warm person, and I know very well from my own time in therapy that even making contact with a therapist can take so much energy and also feel like it's an admission of some sort of failure to seek help. I am here to understand and to support and to contain what you bring to each session, and I do this with the utmost care. The work is led by you, you are your own expert. I will hold the ends and the pieces of narrative, meaning, until we gradually see the work emerge together. I always offer a regular review for us both, normally monthly or so, and we co-create this part of the work, to see where we are and how it is feeling.
My first session
We can have an introductory session on Zoom for 20 minutes. This is free, and is a really helpful space to get a feel for whether or not we might like to work together. The first proper session after this involves me asking questions about you that are for information gathering purposes. This helps to get an outline of what's going on so far for you. I also go through a very brief, single-page contract. This in no way ties you to committing to therapy, more so it's to identify our collaborative working boundary, framed around confidentiality, ethics, and fees.
