About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps I should begin by saying that therapy isn’t about ‘fixing people” but rather working with what is and self acceptance developing insight and understanding is where real changes are made.
You can be assured of a warm welcome and a safe and confidential space to talk about what you want from counselling and see how best I can help. I am a client centred therapist working with whatever you bring while holding your overall goals and direction in sight. I believe using a holistic approach gives you the best opportunity to find the way forward tailored to you and your life. Experiencing understanding and a trusting therapeutic relationship helps creates the core conditions for growth, restoring a sense of motivation direction and clarity helps to develop new perspectives that create change “that which seemed unbearable becomes manageable, absorbed - eased or resolved” As a Buddhist meditation Practitioner I offer spiritual guidance and support for your practice or mindfulness journey if requested and used as a resource, certain quality’s form part of my approach such as self awareness, acceptance, mindfulness, compassion, loving kindness, non judgmental acceptance and understanding.
Practice description
How can we achieve a good outcome from therapy? By using a combination of therapeutic expertise and tools such as EMDR (in the case of trauma) theory - your life experience and wellbeing resources. I work both long-term “in depth” and short term for a more “goal focused approach. Working holistically means that I see clients as a “whole person”mind body and inner wisdom, our overall wellbeing is fundamental to live a life fulfilled. It is important that we take care of all aspects of ourselves to create harmony, In doing so we give ourselves the best opportunity to deal with life’s difficulties when in crisis or need. Low confidence, self esteem - distress, overwhelm, anxiety grief and fear are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions we face. Most people at some point In life find themselves in need of seeing a professional and experienced therapist outside of your situation to talk with when making important life changes, or faced with challenging circumstances to help to resolve and support you in your life. Often we need more time to go deeper in order to understand more complex situations and ourselves with the aim of working something through.

I offer the first session of 45 minutes at a reduced rate of £20,
I ask that all fees are paid before each session by bank transfer, details of which I will send by email once we have scheduled our first appointment. Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and to find out more. We will talk about how you are feeling and what has brought you to therapy.
You may be clear as to what you want in terms of an outcome, However for lots of people it’s not so clear and you may just have a sense of wanting to work towards something or quite simply wanting to feel better in yourself and having someone to talk to when work things out with. During this session I may ask you some questions such as your Previous experience in counselling or psychotherapy or health related issues. At the end of the session we will make another appointment to meet if we feel comfortable. I will then send you more information on the counselling Terms and Conditions such as the cancelation agreement and how to get the best from your therapy sessions. Where appropriate I will also send an assessment form.
