About me and my therapy practice
Jodie Nelson BSc (Hons) MBACP integrative counsellor with a professional interest in varying forms of trauma, depression, relationship issues, and anxiety.
Whether you are new to therapy or have past experience, choosing to explore your concerns collaboratively and confidentially in a judgement-free setting is a primary step in the process of change. Many individuals seek therapy for a variety of reasons –relationship issues, addiction, grief, issues related to childhood, professional issues, and the self are just a few examples. Whether you seek to explore past and/or current concerns, I aim to facilitate a space that is neutral, safe, and assistive for exploring emotional and psychological wellbeing. A place where clients can expect to be encouraged to express and evaluate any concerns, using varying methods and techniques to suit the individual which are always established via mutual collaboration and arrangement.
Practice description
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with appropriate ethical and professional guidelines. I am also trained to deliver a variety of approaches that include person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential therapies.
Additionally, I have spent several years working in non-clinical NHS and private healthcare settings across London and have most recently completed assignments at the East London Rape Crisis Centre and The Awareness centre. I began counselling in 2016 before starting a private practice in 2019. My most recent research project explores suicidal ideation and the considerations for counsellors and clinical supervisors. My specialist interests include trauma caused by varying forms, depression, and narcissistic abuse.
My first session
At present, I offer weekly online sessions over several platforms and have a clinic room a short walk from South Woodford station. A 20-minute complimentary telephone/video consultation is offered to all prospective clients to explore any questions and to ensure that all clients are fully informed regarding the therapeutic process/service. This also provides the opportunity for you to express your individual needs and outline any therapeutic goals prior to attending and committing to any therapy sessions. Options of short-term and longer-term therapy are also available. I see clients for 50 minutes on a week-to-week basis.
