About me and my therapy practice

Perhaps you are thinking of seeing a counsellor because you are feeling anxious, depressed, lacking in confidence, or maybe you are dealing with a difficult relationship at work or at home.   I can provide a safe, warm and empathic environment to allow you to explore whatever difficulty you may be facing.

The model I use is integrative, which means I can tailor my approach to the individual client.  The model combines psychodynamic work, which is looking at, and making links with, the past, and a person-centred approach which focuses on responding, without judgement, to whatever is going on for you in the present. I can help you process any current issues or challenges, and will also help you to think about what impact aspects of your past may have had on you.  I strongly believe that it is through a deeper understanding of ourselves that we are able to grow and develop to our full potential.

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a PG Cert. in Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.   I undertake regular trainings to ensure my understanding of the work deepens, and I have worked as a therapist within the NHS.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, relationships and identity and whether you have a particular issue you are dealing with, or you just want to understand yourself a little better, I will provide a supportive space for you to think about whatever it is you need to think about in order to achieve your own personal growth.

Practice description

I am working face to face and online at the moment.  I have undertaken three trainings in online work, to ensure that my online practice is effective and safe for the client.

My first session

It is important that the relationship between client and therapist is a trusting one, so I offer a free introductory session so that you can decide if we are a good fit.  You will hopefully get an idea as to whether I am someone you will be able to talk openly to, and will be able to ask any questions if you are unsure of anything.

The session will be around 30 minutes and you can tell me why you are seeking therapy, and I may ask you some questions about different aspects of your life in order to gain an understanding of your current challenges.

If you then do decide to go ahead with sessions, there is no commitment to anything, and we will review how our sessions are going after about 3 to 4 sessions.
