Availability

I work Monday - Friday at a variety of times including daytimes and evenings.

I will always work with you to find a consistent day and time we can meet for weekly therapy.

If you work shifts or different hours, I can be flexible about arranging sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Humanistic Therapist with specialist training in Autism and related Neurodevelopmental Conditions.  This means I am experienced in working with anxiety, depression, relationship and work issues as well as living with autism, dyslexia, ADHD or other neurodiverse conditions in either yourself or a loved one. I work in a client-centred way, which means I work hard to figure out what therapy best suits you, and bring myself to our work together by sharing any thoughts, observations or feelings I have that might be useful to you.  No awkward silences - I won't leave you hanging in silence not knowing what to say!  I am a friendly, approachable person, and love my work.

I will work with you to figure out what you are struggling with, learn to understand yourself and what you think, feel and need to live your best life.  For some this is strategies to deal with difficult situations, for others this is talking through conflict, feelings of helplessness, despair, anger or sadness.  For some others still, the goals aren't always clear and you need someone to stay with you through the darkness until you are more able to get back up and try again.

Practice description

You can view a video of my room on my website so you can see where you'd be sitting and what sort of things are in the room. www.magpiecounselling.com/videos

I have a lovely, quiet and dedicated counselling room located above the Victorian Arcade on Littlehampton High Street. Free parking is one minute away with a parking disc that we or any other local shop can provide you. The train station is a pleasant 5 minute walk away through the town.

My first session

First sessions are free, and you can view a video of the sorts of things we might discuss on my website. www.magpiecounselling.com/videos

The first session is for us to get to know each other, discuss what help you are looking for, tell me a bit about what's going on for you, ask any questions we might have of each other and figure out if we'd like to work with each other.

You can ask me about how I work, what qualifications I have, how I think I might be able to help, what days and times are available or how much sessions cost, or anything else you need to know to help you decide if you'd like to start therapy with me.

I will probably ask you some questions too, like what you are struggling with, what you'd like us to talk about, what you might find difficult or are worried about with therapy, and what your goals are.  If you don't know the answer to any of these, that's ok!  We can figure it out together, the first session is just to help us see roughly where you need help, and what we might like to explore later.

I will  give you a copy of the contract to take away with you and of course you can get back to me any time after the session with any further questions you might have.
