About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor. I have been working as a counsellor/therapist for over 12 years. The last 8+ years I worked for Kent Police as a counsellor within their Counselling and Wellbeing Team, providing counselling support for Police Officers and staff.
I have experience of working with people of all ages, presenting with a variety of issues.
Prior to joining Kent Police I worked with young adults, providing counselling support at a Kent University. I also spent time working with young children in a Primary School setting providing play and art therapy. As well as having experience, working with adults of all ages, as a Bereavement Counsellor.
I would describe myself as an Integrative Counsellor. The theoretical approach that underpins and informs my way of working is predominantly Humanistic/Person Centred. However, over the years my way of working has evolved and developed, as a result of additional training and experience, which allows for me to tailor my way of working to suit the needs of each individual client. Each client is unique, there is no 'one size fits all'. I will work using CBT informed techniques, when required, as well as, on occasion, offering more creative ways of working therapeutically.
