About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced therapist who has worked in both NHS and private practice. I seek to offer a safe and supportive relationship in which you can explore the issues that concern you, and work towards making your life happier and more fulfilling.

So far as possible, I want to offer counselling to people with different levels of income. I have a sliding scale of fees in the range £40 - £60. When we first meet, we will agree a fee that is appropriate to your circumstances

Practice description

I trained in an integrative approach to counselling which enables me to tailor my approach to the needs of each client.

At the heart of my work is the person-centred approach, which recognizes the uniqueness and individuality of each person and makes you, the client, the expert in your own life.

My training has included existential and humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused and psychodynamic approaches.

I work from a dedicated counselling room at my home in Fishponds, Bristol BS16. This is accessible from Central, North and East Bristol. It is within about 10 minutes drive of the M32, junction 2, and is well served by regular buses.

Due to Covid much of my practice has gone online and we will discuss the most appropriate format for our work together, with regular reviews.

My first session

If you decide you would like to come to see me, we will meet for an initial session during which you can tell me something about yourself, what brings you to counselling, and what your hopes are from it. I will answer any questions you have about working with me.

At the end of this session we will decide whether we want to work together, and will agree an initial contract for either time-limited or open-ended work.

Time-limited means working for a fixed number of sessions, usually 6 - 12 sessions or up to 6 months, with a clear focus for the work. Open-ended means we will work together for as long as is needed, allowing the conversation to take us wherever you need to go.
