About me and my therapy practice
I use an integrative approach to my counselling practise which means I draw on different psychological theories and skills in my work, rather than having just one specialism. I believe this allows for flexibility and enables me to tailor my approach to you depending on your needs as my client. You set the focus of our work and together we work through your concerns to find a path forward that feels right to you. Most importantly though, I listen always with kindness, acceptance and without judgment.
Before I became a counsellor I worked as a solicitor in a busy city firm. I left the legal profession to follow my passion for helping people. The experience I have had as a solicitor not only allows me to bring a professionalism to my work but also a first-hand understanding of the pressures a person in a corporate environment may be under. This has helped to inform my understanding of the pressures anyone might feel at any time of their life.
I have spent a number of years working within the NHS CAMHS supporting young people and adults through difficult periods in their life.
Who I work with
My clients range from young adults to mature people of any age.
Often my clients are experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, loneliness, low self esteem or bereavement or any combination of these.
My own professional background has given me an insight into the pressures experienced by those in professional jobs as well as the stresses that everyday life can bring.
My approach is for anyone who would like to understand themselves better and make a change in their lives. Often people find that by tracing an issue back and exploring it more can help change behaviours or see things differently and make a positive change.
I offer counselling from Solihull Wellbeing Clinic in Solihull or over zoom or the phone. I offer long or short term counselling and sessions last 50 mins and are usually weekly.
My first session
I offer an initial free of charge phone call to talk through your needs and what you want to get from counselling. We can then decide if we feel we would like work together and can book an appointment for a formal session.
At our first session we talk through in more detail what you would like to work on during counselling and we will review this periodically so see how the counselling is progressing.
