About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling overwhelmed with life? struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addictions, trauma, bereavement , anger, work stress?
Finding it hard to cope? Feeling sad, lonely, confused, lost and uncertain what to do without someone who can really listen and understand you?
I offer face to face counselling with individuals and couples to provide help and support during difficult times. This can also help with coping, increasing personal awareness/understanding and making positive life changes.
I have worked with hundreds of people from all walks of life. This has given me a real insight and a practical view of the problems people are facing in these times, both in their personal and professional lives.
My qualifications and training enable me to work at a deeper level with people and explore difficult and traumatic childhoods and backgrounds.
I use an integrative theoretical approach to my work, using several models of counselling including: Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Systemic, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis (TA) and elements of PICT (Parks Inner Child Therapy). My approach varies depending on the needs of my client, I tailor my counselling work to fit each individual client, which is the most important thing.
I believe in developing a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients where they can safely explore thinking, emotions and issues without losing sight of their own important things. This is central in my work.
I offer daytime, evening and some weekend appointments.
My counselling practice during Covid 19 has been successfully delivering online video and telephone counselling support.
Following sessions I will normally email counselling resources to support our therapy work.
My first session
During the first counselling session individual clients or couples can assess whether my approach to Counselling feels right for them. If wanting to continue with regular counselling, the sessions are usually weekly and one hours duration.
