About me and my therapy practice
I'm an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist as well as a qualified Traumatologist. In other words, I would be happy to support you whether you are struggling with a current problem (e.g. conflict in the workplace) or whether you have experienced trauma. Depending on the presenting issue, we would agree on whether short-term or longer-term therapy suits your needs best.
I believe that being able to connect is an important part of the process, which means that I always aim to meet you where you are to build on trust and safety within our relationship.
My goal for all clients is to get to a better place than when they started therapy and I am happy to support clients to set their own goals as to what it'd mean to them, where they would like to be instead of where they are.
I believe that to build a trusting relationship, honesty and transparency are important, which is why I like to set clear expectations as to what to expect from me and offer a free 20 minutes consultation before agreeing to commence a therapeutic relationship.
I have done extensive training, which has provided me with a lot of tools and different therapeutic approaches to support you including Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), REWIND, Imaginary Rescripting & Reprocessing Therapy (IRRT), Prolonge Exposure Therapy (PET), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) protocol, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Exposure - Relaxation & Rescripting Therapy (ERRT) for post-trauma nightmares.
My first session
During the initial free consultation, I explore the presenting issues and how I would approach the first session, which would depend on whether the work is short-term or longer-term (e.g, due to trauma).
The assessment for people struggling with the impact of trauma will be more throughout and I take a biopsychosocial approach, where the assessment would take a couple of sessions to get to know your background properly as a way of assessing what would be best to support you depending on your needs.
