About me and my therapy practice
If you're looking for a therapist, there's a good chance you feel like "something" in your life isn't working, perhaps within yourself, a relationship, or your career. Sometimes it's hard to know what that "something" is, and, other times, the feeling may be directly connected to a specific event, relationship or past trauma, that's now manifesting as anxiety or depression. You may find that the coping strategies which have served you up to now are no longer working and you just can’t go on the way you are.
Most psychological symptoms such as anxiety and or depression emerge when we move through life on "auto-pilot," relying on old learning from the past. Relief from the pain of anxiety and depression comes when we face feelings that we are avoiding and develop new coping skills and new ways of looking at our lives. Change is challenging and having support is key.
As your therapist, I will work with transparency at all times and at a pace that feels manageable, I am here to help you pause daily demands and look inward. I provide a calm and safe space for you to get in touch with your own wants and needs. My belief is that talking to a trusted therapist in therapy helps ground you so that you become able to manage intense emotions rather than continue to be overwhelmed by them, allowing you to make sense of difficult issues enabling you to change what can be changed and manage what cannot. I work in a way that is empathic, respectful, genuine and ethical. By collaboratively building a mutual trustful therapeutic relationship we create the foundation for the possibility of positive, long-term change.
