About me and my therapy practice
There are times when life can feel overwhelming, when we feel we need some extra support in order to shoulder what life throws at us. I aim to provide this support for you, giving you the time and space to develop your awareness, understanding and implement change in your life.
I describe myself as an integrative therapist. What this means is that I have knowledge of different counselling approaches, so that I can tailor my way of working to fit your individual needs. I also always work in a relational way, which means that building a trusting relationship with you is the most important foundation for our work together and this can be key to understanding other relational patterns in your life. It also means the focus of the sessions is directed by you and what is important to you.
It can be nerve-wracking opening up to someone new, and I aim to make this process as easy as possible for you. I offer a warm, empathic and non-judgemental space for us to explore your concerns together, to hear and value your experiences and work together to improve your wellbeing. This process will be individual to you.
This could be talking through and making sense of painful memories, tackling anxieties and low self-esteem or confidence, overcoming low mood, navigating through relationships and difficult circumstances or developing coping skills during significant periods of change.
I offer face to face sessions in the centre of Wakefield and I also offer remote sessions via video and telephone.
My first session
If you feel I may be the right therapist to support you, please get in touch however you feel comfortable: by text or phone call, completing the online form, or sending an email.
I aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours in order to arrange a free initial 15 minute chat over the phone to discuss the support you are looking for.
If you feel I am the right therapist to help support you, then we will book our first session together. This first session will be a chance to get to know each other, to explore what you want to get from counselling and to settle in to the process.
Please note that there is no minimum commitment to the number of sessions you choose to have. You may be looking for shorter term sessions between six to twelve weeks, or you may be looking for longer term or open-ended therapy which may last months or years. If you are unsure, this is something we can discuss together.
