About me and my therapy practice

I will offer you a confidential space to work through whatever is troubling you. It can be hard to reach out for help or even believe that counselling can make a difference to how you are feeling in your current situation. However I believe a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to give time to the different aspects of yourself, become more aware of your strengths, will help you find your own energy for healing and recovering yourself to live a fuller life.

As a therapist for many years I will draw on my experience of integrating different ways of working to help you in whatever way seems most helpful and appropriate for you. I understand that the person who feels right to be your therapist is very personal and you would need time to work out if I am the right therapist for you.

If you think you might be interested in finding out more about working with me please contact me and we can arrange an initial 15 minute no obligation phone conversation.

Practice description

I will work to offer you a relationship where you feel safe enough to explore your innermost thoughts and feelings. I will give you my full attention to develop your awareness of your needs and choices. I work creatively and with body awareness to enhance possibilities for change. Psychoeducation and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing may be helpful if you are coping with the impact of trauma.

My first session

If you contact me I will offer you an optional 15 minute free phone conversation so you can get an initial sense of what it is like to talk to me.

If you decide to go ahead with a follow up 60 minute meeting you will have the opportunity to tell me more about your situation and how you are feeling. I will ask you more about yourself to help me work out how and if I am able to help you. I will explore with you what you are hoping for. We will also discuss confidentiality and the way I work. You might then like to reflect on whether you want to go ahead, and if you do and I think I am able to help you we can go ahead and book some more sessions. We will also discuss fees and consider in your situation what you can afford.

About me and my therapy practice

I am experienced in supporting therapists to be self aware and resourceful in relation to their clients. I have over twenty five years experience of working with therapists, both experienced and those in training working within a wide range of modalities. I work in an integrative way, drawing on my initial trainings in humanistic and gestalt models, and later integrating attachment and relational models. I believe in providing a secure and reliable relationship to help therapists work confidently, paying attention to the BACP ethical framework for the Counselling Professions.

Practice description

My trainings in supervision are based on Hawkins and Shoet's Seven Eyed Model  of Supervision and on Creative Methods within a Person Centred Model. I believe that key to supervision is to provide a space where the supervisee can feel safe and contained enough to explore their work openly to assist them in offering an open, empathic and available presence to their clients. I think creative methods can be very important for picking up on what we may know about clients, but are not recognising.

My first session

Initially we may speak on the phone for a free 20 minutes conversation to establish if I may be able to offer you what you are looking for. If this appears to be the case we can then go on to book an initial session.

At the first full 60 minute meeting I will share with you my supervision agreement and find out what you are looking for. We can talk through what you are needing and you will get a chance to find out how you feel with me and how I respond. After the meeting we will both have a chance to reflect on whether  you feel you would like to work with me and whether I feel I have the skills to meet your needs.
