Cambridge CB5
Sessions from £65.00

Features

Availability

I have availability on Monday afternoons and Friday afternoons.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer Core Process Psychotherapy, which is a type of psychotherapy that combines some Western psychotherapeutic theories with mindfulness and Buddhist thought. It is a contemplative psychotherapy which emphasises compassion and kindness towards ourselves. At its heart is the belief that inside each of us is a core state of health and wholeness.

In my sessions, I aim to provide you with a warm, accepting, safe space in which we can explore your experiences and patterns at your own pace and bring some curiosity and compassion to them.

I am open to exploring experiences of being treated as not belonging to a particular group. Such experiences relating to culture and ethnicity are of special interest, partly because I have lived in cultures that are different from my own.

I have been offering clients first counselling and then psychotherapy since 2011.  I have a Master's degree in Mindfulness-based Psychotherapeutic Practice and a Higher Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

My background is in language teaching and publishing and I continue to be interested in languages and cultures from different parts of the world.

My psychotherapy work is rooted in and supported by my longstanding meditation practice.

Practice description

In our sessions, you can talk about what is troubling you or what is bringing you strength, hope and joy. I aim to listen to you attentively and with care and at times I might invite you to slow down and pay attention to your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations. I might suggest using movement or imagery to understand your experience more fully. If my suggestion doesn't feel right for you, we can work together to find what is helpful.

On a practical note, sessions last an hour and are usually at the same time every week. There is free car parking at the venue.

Unfortunately, this venue is not wheelchair accessible, but my other therapy room is, so please look at my other listing if you need somewhere wheelchair accessible.

My first session

I aim to respond to enquiries within 48 hours. I then offer a free, 30-minute video call in which you can tell me what is bringing you to therapy and what you would like from it. This also gives you the chance to ask questions and see what it might be like to work with me.

If we decide to work together, I suggest we commit to six sessions.  In the sixth session we can review how things are going and decide how to go forward.

I will send you my contract and privacy notice after our video call, and we will discuss them in our first session.
