About me and my therapy practice

It can be hard to take that first step to seeking help, as we often think we should keep our feelings to ourselves and hide away negative thoughts. Perhaps you have managed the feelings and thoughts yourself for a long time but find the same feelings keep reoccurring and are unable to move past a certain point. You may have sought out help from friends or family but it seems no one really understands what you are going through, or you may have tried to implement others views to help you with what it is that is worrying you but these don’t seem to help either.

You might feel you have reached a crisis point, where you are no longer able to conform to expectations or feel like your life has taken a direction you didn’t want it to but are unsure of how to change your old ways of being.

This is where counselling can help you.

Speaking with a trained, professional counsellor will help you to find the key to unlocking the doors, which are preventing you from being able to move forward in your life.

Taking care of our mental health is something we all need to be aware of as well as our physical health. There may be people who make suggestions of how they think you should change how you are, to fit into society and to be more accepted by what is classed as normal. However, no-one is normal and that’s ok.

Counselling is about helping you to understand yourself, it provides you with the tools you can use, to develop the confidence to find your own answers and be YOUR own “normal”.

By working together, we can develop a relationship which facilitates a change within you, to help you become the person you want to be.

Practice description

I'm a Counselling Psychotherapist with a core training and belief in Person-centred Therapy. This way of working with clients means I am empathic, understanding and non-judgmental.

I have BA Honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have completed further training:

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults

Working with trauma and anxiety

Couples and relationships including lost connections, psychosexual issues and infidelity.

I am qualified and expereinced in working both online and via telephone, for those who are unable to attend sessions.

I also work with young and vulnerable people at an outside facility in chelmsford, helping them to make sense of difficult feelings, emotions and life events. I truely love this work, it's so important to me that every child and vulnerable person has access to help from a safe source.

As part of my on-going training, I am also required to complete an additional 30 hours of CPD each year, certificates for completed courses can be shown upon request.

I work pluralistically in my work with clients, this means we work together in collaboration, to find the best way of working for you. This could mean you like to be given a little direction and guidance using some tools and suggestions but please note, i will never tell you what to do, as i truly believe you are the only person who knows what will work for you.

As your counsellor, you will find I am warm, empathic and understanding to your experiences.

I offer an open and safe place for you to explore your feelings in a non-judgemental way.

Now is the time to find your true self and build a solid foundation so that you can be more self assured in your future

My first session

My counselling room has been designed to help make you feel at home. Because I know how daunting it can be when you first come to counselling, I wanted to create a space that instantly calmed any anxious thoughts and encourage you to feel welcome and at ease.
