The client is at the heart of how I offer therapy. I'll treat you like an individual, we'll work on what you bring to sessions and if you don't like an approach or element of the therapy then we can talk that that through and tailor it to your needs. I won't treat you as the problem, but I will help you find ways to work towards solutions by helping you change your perception, habits and outlook about your self, others and the world. 

Practice description

Remote counselling for individuals over 16 years old.

Walk & Talk sessions also available in Huddersfield.

I'm person-centered trained but feel my offering is now integrative or what we might call diverse. I have other qualifications and have learnt other tools and perspectives along the way that allow me to use a variety of methods to help a client get to where they want to be with their life. 

If you learn best creatively, visually or practically then we'll go down that route; I believe in working to a person's strengths and helping them harness the skills they already have in order to help them achieve the skills they haven't yet acquired. I do challenge, I do keep you to topic and I do expect you to match the efforts I'll go to, so if you truly want to tackle a problem then it's important to know it's going to take some effort from you too. You won't be alone but you will be responsible for your direction and your outcome.  

My first session

Your first session will be 50 minutes (or 60 if you decide on walk & talk/ outdoor therapy). You will have already taken part in a free consultation session in order to sign up and explore your reasons for seeking counselling. In your first full session we'll further explore your reasons, hopes and goals for therapy and we'll make a start on building a connection and conversation. You can pick single session therapy with me or go down a route of working towards 6 sessions to see how it goes. 

In all sessions you have the right to walk away at any point, I only ask that you talk that through with me, but your decision to leave will be fully supported if you feel therapy isn't for you or if you got all you needed quicker than you expected. I won't keep you signed up to therapy longer than is necessary so we'll have a review every 6 sessions to see where we you think you are with the work. You're in control; you can pick the frequency but I do recommend 1 session a month as a minimum for any benefit to be had.

About me and my therapy practice

As an ex-line manager I trained as a supervisor to ensure counsellors felt able to discuss their issues with client, themselves and the world in an environment dedicated to them feeling heard. I want to help progress you and your client work so that you feel willing and able to counsel. 

I'm integrative with a person-centered core but I like to refer to TA, IFS, CBT, Jung and creative means when it suits the supervisee. I love hearing about new methods and theories and can help you unpack your CPD learnings too. 

It's a tough profession and often a lonely one; we carry so much of ourselves and our clients around with us. Feel free to offload, unpack and explore in a safe and engaging environment knowing I'm offering both a duty of care to you and your client base. 

I'm not afraid of rupture, I only ask we work on repairing if it occurs as this can often bring a strength to the supervisory relationship. 

I use the Seven-eyed model for supervision and can offer concessionary rates to students.

You can pick 60 minutes or 90 or have a mix of both; whatever you feel you need each month.

I'll treat you like a peer and I will highlight any concerns I might have too. You'll get honest, transparent supervision from me with. A sense of humor is welcome too. 

I currently work remotely via VSEE or telephone.

Your first session will be either 60 or 90 minutes. You will have already taken part in a free consultation session in order to sign up and explore your goals for supervision. In your first full session we'll further explore your reasons, hopes and goals for supervision and we'll make a start on building a connection and conversation. 

In all sessions you have the right to walk away at any point, I only ask that you talk that through with me, but your decision to leave will be fully supported if you feel the relationship isn't for you or if you got all you needed quicker than you expected. You're in control; you can pick the frequency but I do recommend 60 minutes as minimum, although you may need to adhere to your governing body's requirements.
