About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP registered Jungian therapist working in private practice in North London. I offer an integration of my own life unfoldment, with studies, teachings, psychodynamics theories and practices. Rumi said: “The wound is the place where the Light enters you” pointing to the body as the doorway to the inner depth of our sacredness. I use inquiry and body-sensing as two of the main practices, to guide the other into an exploration of what is unfolding in the moment, supporting one to open more and embody our innate potential. In the process we will work with the psychodynamic issues that will arise as obscurations to our deeper nature, the main one being the self sabotaging of our Inner Critic (or Superego) that keeps us stuck in the limitations of our status quo. As the inner critic relaxes and as we learn ways to disengage from it, we will look at how relationships often keep us separate, defensive, blaming and rejecting of others and of ourselves. We will do this, through the understanding and the applying of Object Relations Theory to support us in bringing more objectivity without the lens and the veils of our early conditioning.

Winnicott’s phrase “good enough mother” reflects the fact that our needs as children were never fully met or attuned to by our parents or carers, even when doing their best. As a result, some of us might not be able to self regulate our nervous systems and we grow into being adults with a sense of un-ease, anxiety, hyper-vigilance and just a general inability to settle or relax. With the practice of Presence and compassion we will look at our tendencies to reject our most uncomfortable experiences in the attempt to grasp something else. As we meet and welcome our inner obstacles, our nervous system will be able to relax and the agitation of the mind to settle.

Practice description

Due to COVID-19, my usual policy of only in-person sessions has changed to having sessions either on Zoom or Skype. This is a necessary change in policy to meet these times of health crisis and to continue to offer my services in support of others.
