About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and professionally trained Integrative- Relational Psychotherapeutic Counsellor MBACP.  Born in jersey and now working in the UK I feel in a position to offer support through zoom sessions.

People come to therapy for a lot of reasons most are looking for help understanding thoughts or feelings, patterns and behaviours . Psychotherapeutic counselling is a place you can do this, free from prejudice and judgement.

I have had years of training and experience I currently work for Khiron clinic a trauma centre.  I support clients through- anxiety, depression, , isolation, PTSD, Complex PTSD, OCD, bereavement, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, relationship issues, sexual difficulties, identity issues, sexuality, coming out later in life, gender identity, spirituality and suicidal ideation.

Psychotherapeutic counselling helps by holding time through which to pause, breath, think, talk and be genuinely heard by someone who cares about you, your safety and well-being.  I work with my clients to form and nurture a relationship where trust and empathy help to establish a bond between them. This is often referred to as the therapeutic bond and through this healing can begin to take place.

My background is in theatre so I like to bring creativity and fun into my work. I love yoga and dance which fuels my interest in work with the body. Mindfulness and meditation are tools I find helpful in assisting us living in the present.

I work collaboratively with my clients: it is important to me to empower people to gain insight into repeated patterns of behaviour, enabling self-awareness into past trauma. Moving away from unhealthy relationships and habits can help us to feel stronger, gain more self-esteem and therefore allow us choice.

Practice description

An integrative-relational psychotherapeutic counsellor means I work with a range of different counselling and psycho-therapeutic theories. This approach is extremely effective in valuing the uniqueness of each client.

I have a background in theatre so I like to bring creativity and fun into my work.   I love yoga and dance which fuels my interest in work with the body.  Mindfulness and meditation are tools i find helpful in assisting us living in the present.

I work with the body(somatically)- body responses often can uncover hidden states, emotion and trauma. Somatic therapy is holistic and studies the relationship between the mind and body in regard to psychological past.   Up to date research shows the old talking therapies and separating mind and body can be ineffective.  We will build an awareness of how body positions stature and responses can impact on thought process and vice versa.  With awareness and integration we can better live in the present moment.

The way I work is to bring positive experience into our work bringing curiosity.  I work collaboratively with my clients: it is particularly important to me to empower people to gain insight into repeated patterns of behaviour, enabling self-awareness into past trauma. Moving away from unhealthy relationships and habits can help us to feel stronger, gain more self-esteem and therefore allow us choice.

If helpful we may look together at some ideas to explain and normalise your symptoms - drawing from neuroscience and ideas on the nervous system. I use Janina Fishers trauma informed stabilisation treatment to work on safely integrating trauma memories and theories on the nervous system such a polyvagal theory to create a safety within your own body decreasing symptoms such as anxiety stress and depression.

My work is client led, we go at your pace - I see my role as support and empowerment.

Practice description

An integrative-relational psychotherapeutic counsellor means I work with a range of different counselling and psycho-therapeutic theories. This approach is extremely effective in valuing the uniqueness of each client.

I use relationships (including our relationship and your relationship with yourself), to guide and work with issues together to bring them into awareness.

I also work with the body(somatically) although this is something that I will contract around- safety and containment is important in any work that we may do together. Body responses often can uncover hidden states, emotion and trauma. Somatic therapy is holistic and studies the relationship between the mind and body in regard to psychological past.

If helpful we may look together at some ideas to explain and normalise your symptoms- drawing from neuroscience and ideas on the nervous system. I use Janina Fishers trauma informed stabilisation treatment to work on safely integrating trauma memories.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and professionally trained Integrative-Relational Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I work with a diverse client group of young people 16+, adults and older adults. I offer support with anxiety, social anxiety, depression, trauma-PTSD, Complex PTSD, OCD, bereavement, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, relationship issues, sexual difficulties, identity issues, sexuality, coming out later in life, gender identity, spirituality and suicidal ideation.

How Does Psychotherapy and Counselling help?

  • Offering a greater understanding and enhances your mental health and wellbeing
  • Improve relationships with others and yourself
  • Reduce and heal from behaviours that are problematic such as eating disorders, addiction and self harm
  • Gain a understanding of how your past is influencing you in the here and now
  • Empowers you to create space in-between stimulus and your response
  • Uncovers hidden emotions, states and trauma from the past freeing you of these in order that you can start to live more fully in the present
  • Improvement in physical health

It can be hard to make the first steps to explore therapy.  People come for many different reasons feeling sad or anxious, maybe relationship issues or stress issues around food or body image.  I hold a safe empathic non judgemental space in which together we can build an awareness around thoughts feelings and behaviours.  Our relationship is something with time we will build together it’s important to have a professional who genuinely cares about you and your well-being and that you can trust in time.
