About me and my therapy practice

Are you a bit lost when it comes to sorting out your eating and weight issues? Are you confused by all the information and disinformation about healthy eating? Is your weight, or your behaviour around food and eating having a negative impact on your life?

From eating disorders to disordered eating, counselling help for eating and weight provides an alternative to treatment as usual.

All kinds of eating related issues can be addressed, including but not exclusively:

eating too much or not enough

constant dieting

yoyo dieting

"ideal" weight

persistent thoughts about food, weight, body etc

avoiding so called "bad" foods,

not eating out

binge eating

eating "normally"

sugar cravings

weight discrimination

alcohol related eating (drinking instead of eating?)

hangover binges

menopause eating and weight

under exercising

obsessive calorie counting

weighing too often

fear of weighing

constant worry about what to put on your plate

menu planning and shopping for food

Whatever the problem might be, the opportunity to work on it together in a proactive, supportive environment is a promising long term solution.

Practice description

Counselling Help for Eating and Weight is a truly integrative approach combining evidenced based psycho-education and psychotherapeutic practices from cognitive, behavioural, humanistic, systemic, psychodynamic and existential underpinnings. It is the opposite of a one size fits all treatment because one size never fits all.

My first session

Therapy is individually tailored starting with a comprehensive assessment. Our work together is collaborative - my expert knowledge of therapy etc meets your expert knowledge about you and your unique experiences.

Assessment lasts approximately 90 mins. All subsequent appointments are one hour and are usually weekly, with the exception of severe eating disorders which require twice weekly sessions for around 4 weeks before moving to weekly.

For most food and eating issues, sessions are held once a week, moving to fortnightly, then monthly over the course of therapy.

All sessions (including initial assessment) are £60, payable 24 hours in advance via bank transfer, phone banking, cheque, Internet etc. However, if you would like to call for an informal chat and ask questions before booking an assessment, I would be very happy to talk things through.
