About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. My name is Liz and I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor working in Private Practice and also for the NHS. I work extensively with adults and children 11+.
I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, adolescent issues, perinatal mental health, bereavement and loss, still birth, miscarriage and birth trauma.
Whatever has brought you to counselling, any concerns or goals you may have, my aim is to provide you with a welcoming, non judgemental and confidential space that allows you to gently explore your feelings and emotions that you may have found hard to share with others.
Together we can process these emotions or experiences and begin to make sense of them. Counselling offers you the opportunity to look at your thoughts and feelings from a different perspective and identify any unhealthy thinking patterns or behaviours that don't sit right for you. From this will come the confidence to make any changes right for you.
Being listened to by someone empathic and non-judgemental is a powerful way for you to make sense of what is going on for you.
I am a warm and genuine counsellor who offers clients a relationship based on empathic understanding.
My foundation is Person Centred approach but have the experience to dip into other modalities such as CBT, Mindfulness and creative therapy when required. I work with you and your needs to ensure you get the most out of your session
My therapy room is private and quiet with ample parking.
It meets the government guidelines for social distancing of 2m apart.
It is located in Little Chalfont near Amersham. It is a 10 min walk from Chalfont and Latimer tube station.
My first session
The first session is a chance for you to meet me and for me to understand what has brought you to counselling.
We can explore what you want to achieve from counselling and how we can work together.
You may feel that there might be a different and more appropriate therapy available and I will offer my professional advice on a referral.
However, if we feel I am the right counsellor for you, we will discuss the therapeutic contract. This will include for example how often we will meet, my fee and cancellation policy.
This is helpful so you can refer to the working agreement at any point during your therapy to refresh your memory as to what we agreed.
I understand you may have a huge mix of emotions around your first session. This is normal.
You can ask me anything you want to know about my qualifications and experience and anything at all you don't understand.
It is vitally important I am the right counsellor for you.
