About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor, EMDR practitioner and clinical supervisor, with over 15 years of counselling practice.
Counselling offers a safe, confidential environment in which to explore the difficulties you are facing - whatever they are. To better understand how and why you think, feel and behave as you do.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on a range of counselling and therapeutic models in order to meet the needs of each individual in the most effective way. At the heart of my practice, is the relationship between counsellor and client. My thoughtful, empathic approach enables me to develop a counselling relationship that is both respectful and compassionate, allowing you to feel accepted, valued and understood.
I am a qualified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner. EMDR is a powerful and effective therapeutic treatment to help people recover from psychological trauma i.e. PTSD (Post traumatic Stress Disorder), panic attacks, complex grief, and many other distressing life experiences.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Practice description
I have a broad experience of working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal feelings, bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, identity issues, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociation, voice hearing etc. I have a particular interest and expertise in supporting people who live with the lasting impact of traumatic events, including complex trauma.
I work with adults on a short or longer-term basis, depending on individual need.
I offer 60 minute face to face counselling sessions. I currently have no availability for online counselling.
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity for me to better understand your difficulties and what you hope to achieve in counselling, to agree a way of working together and be clear on what we can both expect. There is no pressure to talk about anything that feels uncomfortable or difficult. It also allows you the chance to get to know me and ask any questions you may have.
Before we meet, I offer an optional, free, 20 minute introductory telephone or zoom conversation, without obligation, to help decide if we are a good fit for each other.
If you would like more information, or wish to arrange an appointment please contact me by phone or email, I will be happy to hear from you and will get back to you as soon as possible. As I work part-time there may be a short delay.
