About me and my therapy practice
There are many different reasons for considering therapy - we might feel as if we have lost our way; we might need support to face challenges in our life; we might need a safe space in which to talk freely; or we might find it hard to believe we could ever find the right words to say something which is distressing us out loud.
Whatever your reasons for reaching out I offer a calm space in which we can think creatively. My relaxed style embraces and values uniqueness and diversity. I am interested in you as a whole person.
Collaboratively we will make sense of feelings and ways of behaving. There will be space to consider how beliefs about ourself and our life impact the choices we make, and affect how we relate both to ourselves and others. We will explore how thoughts, feelings (sometimes lack of) and ways of behaving might pull against one another in unhelpful ways.
From a place of tenderness we can start to notice a wider set of choices. We can feel empowered to step into our life with increased confidence, spontaneity and hope.
Practice description
I have worked for over 15 years, initially as a social worker within the Criminal Justice System, then with various charities, and in private practice helping people make sense of the difficulties they experience and the choices they make.
My practice is grounded in psychodynamic, humanistic, body and creative based psychotherapy. I have experience in working with a wide range of problems including relationship issues, anxiety and stress, depression, life crises, low self esteem, sexuality and sexual difficulties and trauma.
Over the years I have developed an integrative style which puts you at the centre. This means I can work in a way which is responsive to you, the issues that you bring and how it feels to be together trying to work a way through. Many of us have been hurt and bruised in the different relationships of our life. I provide a caring, at times playful, healing space in your life which over time helps you find an inner peace and evermore meaningful and fulfilling ways of being in the world.
I look forward to hearing from you if you want to explore what it would feel like for us to work together.
My first session
I offer a no obligation initial consultation, either online or face to face, depending on what feels right for you.
I want to help you explain, in an unhurried way, both what has brought you to seek therapy and this point in your life and what you are hoping for from sessions.

Whatever your reasons for reaching out I offer a calm space in which we can think creatively. My relaxed style embraces and values diversity. I am interested in you as a whole person. I aim to be alongside you, encouraging curiosity, offering consistency, support, and occasionally challenge, to help you to reflect on what it is to be uniquely you.

Practice description
My career started as a social worker in the Criminal Justice System. I also have experience in the charity sector supporting single parents and people who are HIV positive.
