Availability
I currently work Monday - Friday, during the day and after school / evenings.
My availability changes frequently, however within my practice I work in a team with other experienced Child Therapists, so I can always pass on their details if I am fully booked.
About me and my therapy practice
A very warm welcome to my Children's Counselling Practice.
I am a fully qualified Integrative Children's Therapist and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I provide one-to-one Counselling and Play Therapy for children and adolescents between the ages of 3-17 years.
I have been working with children and young people for the past 16 years, in nurseries, schools and counselling centres, as well as privately supporting families and children struggling in their home environment. I have experience working with children with additional educational needs, children on the autistic spectrum and those with physical disabilities. I was recently awarded "Best Children's Mental Health Therapist" by GHP Private healthcare Awards.
I hold a graduate degree in Psychology, Level 3 in Counselling Skills and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children. I trained with Place2Be, the UK's leading mental health organisation for children and adolescents. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy; thus meaning I have met their standards of proficiency for private work and I practise within their ethical framework. I have professional indemnity insurance in place.
I am also a certified sleep consultant and provide behaviour support and sleep programmes to families.
Practice description
I work in a child-centred way, using play, story telling, creative work and talk, to help children express their thoughts and feelings in a way that is comfortable and natural for them. My Integrative training means that I draw on a number of theories and traditions of therapeutic work; including Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, Play therapy and Person-Centred approaches.
I believe that every child is unique and value them as individuals with their own mind, views and way of seeing the world. As an Integrative therapist, I am able to work in a way that is responsive to each child and their own needs, rather than using a single approach for all.
My Practice is based within The Children's Wellness Centre in Chiswick, which also provides an array of other Therapeutic services and children's activities.
The Children's Wellness Centre is bright, spacious and child-friendly. I hope your child will feel at ease coming into the Centre, with the aim for it to be relaxed, informal and non clinical.
The Children's Wellness Centre recently won the 2020 "Health and Well-being Award" in West London, for the provision of Therapeutic services.
My first session
After a telephone consultation with parents / carers, I will book your child into their initial session with me, which will last 50-minutes. For younger children, or those anxious about coming, we can make the first session slightly shorter if need be.
After meeting your child I will send you a follow-up and we can decide together, taking into account the views of your child, whether further sessions may be of benefit.
