About me and my therapy practice

I have a wealth of experience as a registered EMDR therapist and accredited counsellor. I believe there are times in our life when we all need some additional support to help work through issues within ourselves or our relationships. I offer a safe place to explore what is going on for you and to provide emotional support and coping strategies.

I offer a non judgemental, safe and professional counselling relationship, where you can expect to be listened to and understood. No matter how big or small the challenges you face, your counselling experience with me will be professional, confidential, safe, supportive and ethical.

I am an EMDR UK registered therapist. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a powerful treatment for individuals who have experienced some form of trauma, such as post traumatic stress, childhood sexual and/or physical abuse or neglect, assault or road traffic accidents. Research studies have shown that EMDR can markedly accelerate your recovery after a traumatic experience. Recent research also suggests benefits of using EMDR in treating conditions including anxiety disorder, depression and chronic pain.

My role as your counsellor is to work with you in a way that best meets your needs and helps you to move forward with your life.

Alongside my Private Practice, I was employed as a Clinical Lead by a renowned National Healthcare company, providing counselling and support for people experiencing difficulties, including depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement or anger issues.

I have extensive experience of working with individuals and couples experiencing loss and grief. I work with a local cancer charity providing counselling for people living with and beyond cancer or other life threatening illness. I have also volunteered for another national agency supporting people in their darkest times of distress and despair.

Practice description

I believe my Practice is best described by my clients:

''I would just like to say what a privilege it was to have you as my EMDR Therapist. The empathy you showed and the patience you showed me was outstanding. You as a person and a counsellor really helped me. I can’t praise you enough for the support you gave me.'' Testimonial by AR.

"You are truly amazing at your job. I am so grateful for the nurturing, warm environment which you create. I'm so lucky to have found you. You've not only helped me to be a better version of myself, more self accepting...I actually like who I am and am proud of myself and who I am...You have a very special place in my heart. Thank you for helping me to be me." Testimonial by EF.

"Thank you so much for helping me to see things more clearly and for giving me the confidence to believe in myself again. You are very special and I am lucky that I met you. Thank you for making a difference to my life."   Testimonial by IR.

"You have provided me so much support and insight into the dynamics of my relationships and in turn my own character. You have shown an enormous amount of empathy and warmth. Your approach has been so valued and respected and I hold you in such high regard. Thank you for being my 'safe place' to come and talk and express my feelings."   Testimonial by LS.

"Thank you for giving me the tools and strategies I needed to cope with PTSD, but also more importantly for the compassion and understanding, and for the 'magic' that good EMDR therapy can invoke. It has made a great difference to me...I am grateful not to feel that way anymore and to have the resilience now to return to the things that matter and cope with the losses and distress that I once felt."  Testimonial by EJ.

My first session

I offer an initial 15minute free informal meeting. This gives us the opportunity to meet face to face and to talk about how we might work together. This helps to 'break the ice' and to give you an understanding of what you can expect from your counselling sessions with me.
