About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and I offer sessions once, twice, or thrice weekly, depending on one's needs. Working with a wide range of issues and psychological problems.
Every person has different ways of dealing with difficulties. Talking to a psychotherapist will give you the time and the space needed to explore your feelings and address issues that might have been troubling you for a long time. Anxiety and depression or repeated patterns that we cannot fully understand or explain are often the most difficult things to talk about.
Difficulties might come from our wider environment and relationships or from within.
I aim to help you understand yourself and your difficulties in ways you might have not considered. It is these different perspectives that open ended psychotherapy offers to those who seek it. It is often difficult to imagine a place that all of our feelings are allowed to exist and be talked about.
Working together is a decision we both need to make. I allow two to three initial consultation sessions that will give us the time to understand your current situation and if psychotherapy will be helpful to you.
What you bring to your therapy becomes the essence of the work we will do together.
Practice description
I originally qualified as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, and I continued training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with Wpf Therapy.
My extensive training has deepened my understanding of the complexity of issues that a person can bring to therapy, and has also given me the opportunity to understand the differing benefits between once-weekly psychotherapy and more frequent psychotherapeutic work.
During my long training I gained valuable clinical experience from working as a psychodynamic psychotherapist in mental health charities and the NHS.
My work has always centred on working with individuals in private practice.
If we decide to work together, we will have a regular meeting day and time for our sessions.
I will always discuss the length of psychotherapy with you any time you wish, at whichever stage we are in our work together.
Fees:
Once weekly £65 - £75, per session
Twice or thrice weekly £55 - £65, per session
My first session
Initial consultation sessions are different, as they give you an opportunity to express that which brings you to therapy and your current situation, as well as your past experiences and life history.
It often takes two to three (50 minute) sessions to complete this process, giving you the opportunity to experience how I work and for both of us to decide if we can work together or if another form of therapy or treatment would be more suitable for you.
It will still be necessary, however, for us to have a brief introductory telephone conversation, prior to our initial consultation.
